Giuseppe Pompili PAKISTAN: In the company of Adriano Dal Cin, Marco Tossutti, Alessandra Canestri and in absolute autonomy, without oxygen and without high altitude bearers, Pompili will attempt to climb Broad Peak (8,047metres) and immediately afterwards K2 (8,611 metres). K2 Freedom PAKISTAN: the group led by Daniele Nardi will attempt the ascent of K2. At 8611m it is the second highest peak but the most desired ascent. The group includes the popular RAI2 journalist Marco Mazzocchi who will not only film a documentary but keep a diary for the whole period on the site www.raisport.rai.it. Project Abissi - The house at the bottom of the sea 2 The house at the bottom of the sea, made famous by the world record stay (10 days) set in 2005 by Stefania Mensa and Stefano Barbaresi, will re-open to accommodate 6 new aquanauts. They will live under water for 14 days at a depth of about 15 metres and will have three airbells positioned in the underwater environment to meet their physiological needs and for routine medical examinations. The aquanauts of Project Abissi 2007 - the house at the bottom of the sea 2 - will always be in contact with the world through Intermatica satellite solutions. In fact, an innovative service has been arranged on the Thuraya satellite network, which will allow the public to speak to the aquanauts directly for the duration of the event. Hellish snow storms, winds at 200 kilometres an hour, temperatures at 40° below zero ". That is what Simone Moro says about his new enterprise "The North face Baltoro Winter Expedition". And this time, for the Intermatica testimonial, the adventure is at the limits of human possibilities and to date never achieved by anyone. The Bergamo climber wants to climb Broad Peak and K2 in the Pakistan Karakorum in winter and without oxygen. The departure date from Italy for the new expedition was 24th December last. Moro could become the first climber in history to reach the summit of K2 in winter, with extremely low temperatures and very strong winds. Simone Moro has by now achieved great experience of the world's most difficult mountains. He has taken a leading part in as many as 36 expeditions on the most important mountain chains, six of them in winter conditions. Broad Peak, also known as K3, is an "old acquaintance" for Simone Moro: He has already conquered it in summer of 2003 in little more than 24 hours (it normally takes three days). K2, on the other hand, is the dream of all climbers and Moro already tried to reach the summit in 2003, but had to stop at 7,600 metres because of adverse weather conditions. In the new enterprise Simone Moro will be accompanied by a Pakistani cameraman-climber. Projects like the Broad Peak one represent the last frontier of adventure in the classical sense, with the taste for exploration and the solitary challenge. Moro, who has well understood the importance of communication, has since 2002 been a testimonial for Thuraya - Intermatica which provides him with a Thuraya telephone satellite DSL modem.
